While Mummy was away.

When I was away for the weekend in Melbourne Niwa had a little accident.  He jammed his finger in the door at church and had to go to Starship and have his finger nail sewn back on.  He had to have a General and the operation was about 45mins.  He then stayed the night in Starship.  No one told me about this.  On my way home for the Airport on Monday Nikki called me and she said,  "How is Niwa?"  I said "What?" Then she said,  "OH neva mind!"  I was thinking what the heck someone tell me what is going on.  Then she said, "Oh he just hurt himself" and then left it at that.  I was dying by now, wanting to know more but she wouldn't tell me anymore I had to wait until I got home,  only to find my little boy with this plaster cast on his arm.  Uncle Donovan called it his 'Sausage hand' and so everyone was calling it that.  Anyway he has been a 'box of birds'  you would not even know there was anything wrong with him.  These holidays he has gone to the beach, the park, lollie Pops Playland, he has zoomed down Mt Vic on cardboard boxes,  gone to Kiwi Valley Farm and the list goes on.  He is such a brave little guy and has not complained once!  He has since had the plaster off and has a new dressing.  My funny little man,  this time last year it was a broken elbow!

The Funny thing about this was that he was in exactly the same ward as Arama was in and so Keith knew most of the staff there.  When I went back there this week to get it checked,  they were all saying to me,  "I know you from somewhere",  it kinda felt like I was back home.  NOT  hopefully this is the last we see of ward 24A at Starship this year!

This photo below cracks me up as it is just like Arama's sign above his bed,
the same Surgeon's name and everything.

Niwa Starts school!!

I am pretty late with this entry!  A whole term in fact!  Flip oh well at least I am doing it now.  My one and only Baby,  my last baby started school on Monday the 29th of July.  It was so hard for me,  I think I was grieving for about 6 weeks after he started school.  Then I got busy with Arama's surgery etc so I kind of got distracted thank goodness.  Oh well so here are some photos of him on his first day at school.

Us all at home on the first day of term 3    2013 which is Niwa's first day of school.  We were staying at Mums house at this time as we were also having our house renovated at the time.  What a crazy term.  Lots happened term 3    2013,  hopefully term 4 is a little less busy!

The photos below are of Niwa on 'The Mat'  at school.   It was all very foreign for him and he was pretty scared to begin with.  I stayed with him til about 11am.  Prior to that I had tried to go and he hung onto me for dear life and just didn't want me to go. I was so sad for him,  then I told him to be brave and I would go and get Terina to come and sit with him to have morning Tea,  and he allowed me to do that.  I spent the rest of the day in Zombie land hoping he was alright.  I arrived to collect him at 3 and he was just fine.  He braved it out but was pretty stuffed by the time we got home.

Niwa sussing things out on the mat with the other kids,  Not too sure what the deal is???

Then the class went for a little bit of fitness and he loved this part as Niwa is the type of kid who loves running around outside so fitness time was his favourite.

Below are photos of Niwa eating his Morning Tea and Terina and her friend Georgia came to comfort him and eat their lunch with him.  This really boosted him even though I had to convince Terina,  I don't think eating your lunch in the juniors is very cool!

My Yummy, Unsure, Delicious, Baby Boy eating his lunch.  He is a big boy now!  BOO HOO!

Niwa loves to do his homework.  The photos below are of him doing his Reading when he arrived home.  This is him about day 3.  Keith was outside doing the gardens and Niwa didn't even make it inside with his reading book this day,  he was so keen to share his reading skills with his Daddy as soon as he got out of the car!  So cute!

So at the end of his first term of school,  he is totally happy and settled!  The first day was the only day we had any problems with him wanting me to stay.  He knows the routines and systems in the class and is even great at home in the mornings following his little 'to do list' etc.  I am so proud of him.  I can tell he loves to learn too,  he can already read and write about 20 words and I am so excited.  I hate to say this but I think it a lot so I am going to....... I don't think he is Dyslexic!  A little treat for me!  (Fingers Crossed).  It is so lovely as a mother to know your child is settled and happy at school because they spend a lot of their hours there each day.  What a blessing!

What would you like for your birthday Niwa??

I just had to snap a shot of this one.  We asked Niwa what he would like for his birthday.  It is always the 'Great Annual Toy Sale' at the Warehouse around the time of Niwa and Terina's birthday .  So I handed the brochure that came in our letter box promoting the sale  to Niwa and I gave him a vivid marker and asked him to circle the things he loved the most in the  brochure.  Here is a photo of some of his favourite things.  Note:  Everything on the whole page has been circled in fact everything  on every page had been circled  CUTE!

Terina and Niwa's Birthday.

Terina and Niwa's Birthday .

Terina turned 8 on the 14th July and Niwa turned 5 on the 17th of July.

We have been through some real tough stuff the past few weeks and were just going to flag the whole party/Birthday thing this year but then at the last min,  we thought stuff it we are going to have some fun.  So we invited all our favourite people to come for a Dance party.  See the I movie invite above.

Lots of party photos to come.

KYLEE MY SPECIAL NIECE.

Kylee has always been there for me and my kids.  She takes our kids willingly every time we ask her and loves them so much.  She often asks if she can please have them.  LOL. Here are some cute pics of her and Niwa below obviously when she had him one day.  I just stole these off her facebook page.

On Wednesday we had Niwa and Terina's party and these are the cakes she made for them.
The cupcakes are for Terina,  the Transformer cake is for Niwa.

NIWA'S FIRST RIPPER RUGBY DAY.

Keith and I went over to Waiheke Island today for an event and my mum watched the kids.  The only problem was that it was Niwa's first Ripper Rugby game.  Mum took him and Des emailed me this cute as photo of him and Nicole (his BFF in fact he says she is his future wife to be flippen heck thats a bit young).  Nicoles mum looks after Niwa when I work etc and she is amazing!  We love you for eva Des and love this photo you sent of our angels together.  Wish I was there!  They looked like they were having such fun in the rain together!

Last Saturday, Chris (Nicoles Dad)  had a friend who came and took photos of their rugby game.  Look at some of the amazing photos below.  For those of you who don't know.  Nicole is Niwa's best mate and the one he says he is gonna marry,  its so funny because he is so serious!
She is the girl in the photos running with the ball,  she is always scoring tries.

Everyone eating frozen peas waiting for the dinner to be ready :)

The Church Fairy

One of my closest friends Renee below,  has inspired me with her "Church Fairy' Idea for her yummy son Mac,  Niwa's little mate....  (read below for her story and then I will share Niwa's first experience with the 'Church Fairy' last week.

Church has always been a struggle with Mac so even though he's knocking on the door of 5 now!!!, he still doesn't particularly want to be there....& he definitely doesn't want to sit still or whisper :( .....So at our whits end around 6 weeks ago, we introduced the church fairy.

The church fairy watches him at church & keeps an eye on his behaviour in sacrament & then in class, so she can know whether or not she needs to leave a treat in the letterbox for him for when he gets home :) (We always sit in the rec hall & if he's being noisy we point up to the little air vents in the ceiling where she could be spying on him from?!)

He still tries to push the limits & loves to break free to the toilet any chance he can, but he IS doing better :)....And you should've seen his face when he opened the letter box the one week he was a right off & thought he'd still get a treat anyways - talk about devastated lol

NIWA'S STORY

Every Sunday morning,  Niwa wakes up and  when he figures it is Sunday he throw tantrums about having to go.  It is a bummer as I want to go to my class etc to get uplifted myself but he wants me (not Dad) to come to all his classes with him and he has such 'Puppy Dog' eyes with tears in them if I go to leave so there is no way I can leave him like that.  So last week after reading Renee's blog, I thought I would set out to initiate the 'Church Fairy' Idea as a means to get him to go to Kids Sunday School classes etc without me.  He knows everyone there but is just a Mummy's Boy.  Anyway so we prepared him and he was very excited.  He was amazing during Church and let me go to class which was a total first.  Then I was able to go to my next class and when church was finished, he came running to me so so proud that he had been a big boy and gone to class without me.  When we got home,  I told the kids to go and get changed first before Niwa went to the letter box.  The  photos below are of him looking in the box and then of him unwrapping his pressie around Arama and Terina.

Don't you just love our letter Box,  we are getting our front landscaped next week and a new letter Box is on its way, thank goodness!  I don't know how many times Keith has run over our current one.  LOL

Below:  He opens his treat with his brother and sister looking on  CUTE!  Even the kittens joined in which you can see in some of the photos.

This was so effective week one,  but Mac last week got nothing.  Renee told me just because you have the Church Fairy, it does not always mean it is going to work after the faze has worn off.  Well it is working for us as of day one so for now we will make the most of it!  LOL!
