NIWA had his Anenoids out a few weeks ago as his were 95% swollen. He has had snoring problems and sleep Apnea for ages and I have always worried about him but never thought to get his Adnoids checked (slow learner)! So off we went to Southern Cross hopital early one morning to get his operation. The photo below is of Niwa at 7am the morning of his operation getting out of the car, goofing as usual thinking he was in for a treat little did he know that it was going to be a little far from a treat!
below: The amazing toy room he played in when he first arrived.
They then put this special little braclet on him.
He then got changed into this special little night gown, he still thought at this stage that it was going to be a day of fun!
Me below with my special hat on that I had to wear into the operating theatre when they put the gas on his mouth to put him to sleep. I have seen 4 operations on my children now since been a parent and seeing them go off to sleep when getting a general, is perhaps the most awful sight I have ever witness. I hate that vision of their eyes rolling back, it just freaks me out completely! I just look the other way now as it is not worth the memory. I should be thankful my kids don't have to experience this often, I am sure some parents of sick children have to witness this sight frequently.
Below, from a happy boy above to this. He had just come out of surgery in this photo. Poor dude! He vomited a number of times then fell asleep for an hour or so after coming out of his operation.
Pics of him asleep after his operation.
Below: Just after waking up he had some yummy melted iceblock!
Below: He then went into the tv room where they put on a Shriek movie for him and gave him some yummy lunch. Look at all the yummy stuff. Jelly, Choc fish, ice cream, yummy sammies etc.
Below: His nurse Jenny, she was fantastic! He was still pretty drugged here.
She had just pinched his finger with one of those thermometers that goes on the finger, he
was in such a dreamy state still that while he was watching tv, he left his finger up right like this
for about 3 mins after without even noticing, Jenny and I were cracking up!
Below: The finger is slowing going down LOL!
Niwa and Jenny Below
The children at Southern Cross hospital get this little lammy given to them when they leave, it is very special to Niwa and he tells everyone about it.
The latest news is that Terina now needs to get her Adenoids out, so on the 9th of October, we are going to go through this experience all over again.
Terina's surgery photos yet to come! LOL!
